New Regulation

1. January 1, 2020, has been set as the implementation date for a significant reduction in the sulfur content of the fuel oil used by ships. The decision to implement a global sulfur cap of 0.50% mass/mass (m/m) in 2020 was taken by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the regulatory authority for international shipping, during its Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), meeting for its 70th session in London.

Impact for the shipping industry

When the global 0.5% sulphur cap will be introduced in 2020, up to 70,000 ships may be affected by the regulation according to IMO estimates. Switching to low sulfur fuel will add a significantly cost for the ship. Installing a SO2 scrubber ensure continuously use of HFO and in same time comply with the new regulation.

Our Solution

Feen Marine Scrubbers has developed economical efficient, safe, and certified products for eliminating air emissions. We design and manufacture scrubbers for the marine industry which comply with IMO regulation for Global cap of 0.5% and ECA 0.1% Sulfur limits.

Our Solutions

Open Loop Scrubber

This is the most cost efficient and simple solution suitable for most seagoing vessel. As most ship spend the most of the time at open sea where it emission and consumption is at its maximum of normal operation.
